To visit a recycling centre you must make a booking. You can check when your next recycling and waste collection day is, search for what can and can’t be recycled, and to find your nearest recycling centre. Non-household (DIY) waste
If you are unclear if your vehicle needs an e-permit, check the criteria on our Apply for a waste e-permit page. An e-permit is still required to make a booking for commercial type vehicles non gamstop casino and trailers. A vehicle requiring an E-permit can make 6 free trips per 12 months for household waste and/or DIY waste. For example, a large car can make as many household waste trips as required and can make 4 free DIY waste trips per 2 months.
You don’t need to tell us – just don’t choose a time slot. This means any Power Down sessions you do from Monday to Wednesday should count towards a Happy Hour that same weekend, but sessions from Thursday to Sunday won’t count til the weekend after. We’ll aim to update your online dashboard with results of each Power Down session within three days (but occasionally it takes longer). As much as possible, we want to make sure you can plan ahead – so we’ll do our best to keep it at roughly the same time each weekend. Very occasionally, if power is exceptionally expensive and Britain’s burning lots of extra fossil fuels, we might not be able to offer Happy Hours that weekend.
No need to use your free power straight away, Happy Hours can be saved up for a weekend that works for you (and you can use up to two at a time!) Just make sure you use them by 1st November. Edit your booking later with the real registration. You can bring a hired car to the recycling centre. You will need to visit the site office when you arrive.
They will then ask you to drive to an area where you can deposit your items. Staff will ask what items you have and advise you to wait for an area to become free. This can be done using the link included at the bottom of your confirmation email.

Once you’ve banked at least one hour, check your online dashboard on Thursday to see time slots for the upcoming free window at the weekend. We ask that you cancel your booking as soon as possible – and at least 24 hours before your scheduled visit – to allow others to use the time slot.
